Douglas Arellanes is one of the founders of Sourcefabric, a Prague-based nonprofit foundation providing open source solutions for news organizations worldwide; he serves as its director of innovation. One of the projects he led for Sourcefabric, with West Africa Democracy Radio, was a special distinction winner of the 2011 Knight-Batten Awards for Innovations in Journalism. Arellanes has been working on Internet-based projects since 1993. His other activities include moderating a world music program on Prague's Radio 1 (www.radio1.cz) and translating from Czech to English. An American expatriate, Arellanes has lived in Prague since 1992.
